No it wouldn't. That's not what TJ is.

The question is what will TJ be going forward. With the proposed changes, it wont be the old TJ

Thank goodness!

Let’s see the reaction when property taxes immediately double to cover every other service the state or county provides, and businesses relocate to other parts of Fairfax County because little McLean becomes a more expensive place to do business.

McLean would no longer be apart of Virginia?

Pretty sure McLean would be ok economically.

The states maintains all of the roadways. McLean, as a city, would have to establish and maintain its own highway department.

Really? Because reading this thread makes me happy we picked Vienna vs. McLean.

Clearly, its not happening for at least 4 years. But it would take 4 years to really plan that out anyway.

FC is really too large. It would be good to start carving it up to make it more manageable.

I know, right? Arlington is so much better!!! Well managed county, excellent school district with no major impending disaster...

What does the comment have to do with the previous one?

If size is the problem, if Fairfax is too big, then smaller counties must be great. Right?

size isn't the problem, the poors are. McClean city would have a much better rich to poor ratio (maybe they could find a way to draw lines to have no poors).

Troll fail.

if you don't think the real reason for separation is to stop subsidizing the poorer parts of the county you're delusional. What do you think keeping tax dollars local means?

It gets harder to guilt-trip people after you've flipped them off for years.

Did you actually read the article?

If you say so.

This thread is appalling.

shaming people for wanting the best for their kids isn't going to work here.

Wanting the best for their kids does not equal hoarding resources; the two are not mutually exclusive.

using your own resources is considered hoarding now? huh. I imagine McLean residents will still be paying state taxes so no hoarding going on. You wouldnt expect other wealthy jurisdictions like Arlington to pay for FCPS, why would McLean if they separated?

I don't know how well it would be run. Have you ever seen some of the ridiculous statements coming out of the MCA? And then how can we forget the mom who wanted a beltway exit closed so their kids could come home for a snack before sports practice at Langley.

This would be a city that could provide all the same services of Fairfax County. There would not be any fighting with neighborhoods being left behind.

Obviously Fairfax County as an entity as a whole would fight this, but the actual people in Fairfax County would likely not really care - they would be like good riddance.

Fairfax County provides A LOT of resources that people don't ever think about. There are the things that everyone thinks of like schools, zoning, fire department, police, roads, snow removal. But things like courts, health department, disability services, elder services, animal control, libraries, parks, voting, etc. all need to be handled as well.

Oh yes there would be.

Who? If they aren't already districted to one of those two schools, who would really care?
