Tell me how that argument makes any sense, especially to a gun owner who’s a person of color? Tell a black man living in rural Mississippi that he shouldn’t be able to own an AR-15 and to just put his family’s safety in the hands of the redneck cops in a police station that’s a 15 minute drive away. Please...

How much help do you think an individual's guns would be against the federal government, fascist or otherwise? It's totally delusional to think that your handful -- or even large collection -- of firearms would fend off what you're suggesting people need them for.
It's worse than that. The people with the guns ARE the tyrants. They're the ones looking to overturn an election. They're the ones plotting to kidnap state officials and execute them for treason. They want to break up the United States, but will literally beat you with a flag bearing 50 stars. Take one afternoon and listen to talk radio, watch Newsmax and OANN, tool around InfoWars and Parler. The government has done zero to oppress them, but they nurture their victim status to justify terrorist acts that the Founding Fathers would never tolerate. They are themselves the fascists.
Right, its the right out there looting stores and enforcing unconstitutional shut down orders and destroying small businesses all over the country. Get a grip, lady.
The widespread looting and property is awful. The left should condemn that, and many have. But those looters and rioters are not a threat to our Republic. There's not enough of them, and (aside from a few hardcore radicals) their goal is not overthrow of our legitimate, constitutional, elected government.
You can't say the same about the armed militias. Their goal is overthrow of the government. They seek to impose their OWN law, their interpretation of the law and constitution, NOT the law as legislated by Congress, interpreted by the courts, and enforced by the Executive - which is exactly what the Constitution envisions.
Most shut down orders are not unconstitutional. Certainly they are not unconstitutional just because you and an antigovernment mob say so. The government has the power to shut down and regulate businesses if they pose a safety risk. If you think a shut down order is unconstitutional, then sue. Get your day in court. And you might win! A court ruled a PA order was unconstitutional: https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/pennsylvania-federal-judge-rules-62789/ But only partially. Many other COVID restrictions were not ruled unconstitutional: https://6abc.com/health/new-covid-restrictions-in-pennsylvania-now-in-effect-what-you-need-to-know/8711395/
But the is that questions of unconstitutionality are solved by courts in the United States. That's the system of government set up by the Constitution. Absolutely nowhere does the Constitution empower a bunch of armed citizens decide these matters for themselves and threaten government officials. That's what the militias are doing, and it's the height of insanity that they view this as constitutional and patriotic. It's not, it's a threat to the Republic.
STOP making these false equivalencies between the right wing domestic terrorism movement and a bunch of opportunistic looting during a race riot.

You mean that temporary tantrum that police cleared out once the riot drama simmered down a bit?
Yeah, we should condemn that. But let's not be dumb and confuse CHOP with a real threat to the United States.

This is a common trick you guys play - ask gun-owners to justify how effective their guns would be against the federal government, and then if gun owners reply, you accuse them about fantasizing about killing military members.
Yes, I accuse millions of gun owners as fantasizing about killing government officials and other Americans with whom they disagree politically. This is 100% reality.

I'm gonna overthrow the elected US govment and purge all the libs to save the constitution, just as soon as I defeat the military with my boomstick
the military doesn't stand a chance

Afganistan and Vietnam says otherwise, a farmer or illiterate hick with a gun can fight a superpower to a standstill.
Comparing the US militia movement to a religious terrorist organization or a tyrannical invading government is very apt.
Wait, I thought it was the US that's the evil one on the world stage, what with putting our military bases in other people's back yards and meddling in their domestic politics, etc. When did this perception change?

LOL, you think the US military is going to fire the AC130 on US cities and towns?
Modern armed conflicts in the middle east show that small arms are very effective for defense against a well-armed and even mechanized force.
