It probably really is them. This happened in Arizona too. They turned on Jeff Flake and lost the seat.

Apparently one of the things that Trump lawyer Sidney Powell was saying that got her booted was that Doug Collins is the rightful winner of the Georgia runoff (he came in third in reality.) So that could have implications against Loeffler among the give me MAGA or give me death crowd.
