I just became a single mom by choice right before COVID hit. (whew). I am 44. My second daughter. First one when I was 29. Both foster-to adopt. Life is sooooo good with my 2 kids. And grandmom and granddad kept saying what took you so long?

Its unfortunate, not terrible. They choose to align with mom, who was horrible to Dad in many ways. They only call to want money and lie to us about why (just like their mom).

I agree that some men make really bad parents and I see it in my own extended family. What’s more important is the logistics. If the lone parent dies, what happens to the kid? Only an idiot would go ahead and be a single mom by choice.

Dealing with a teen now I have to say kids do need a father figure. I wouldn’t recommend single parenting if you have the choice. Parenting is difficult and kids have so many more issues to deal with than we didn’t experience growing up.

No, it’s not me. Those posts saying I suck didn’t come from me. There are truly people who think I should have taken on those two kids even though I have no energy or interest.

Just ignore that poster. It has nothing to do with the topic. If they are for real, they are really selfish.

OP, if you want another kid, go for it. Ignore the nasty comments about being an older parent. We are. Its not a big deal but you do have to financially plan better.

This! Not everyone is cut out to be a parent and it’s the best thing to not take a child in if you can’t handle it. I was raised by my aunt but I was also her punching bag. I feel like I paid my dues and haven’t spoken to her in 5 years. Do I feel guilty? No. Life is too short to be treated like crap.

Can’t travel right now due to COVID. Plus it’s not fun traveling alone. Friends have their own families. I can do the other things with a baby. I already posted above (but it got lost in the off topic comments) that it would be nice to have another one, but I won’t and I’m blessed that I have a beautiful daughter.
