President Obama, show us the way
He had 8 years and didn't do crap.
He was a good President. Led us to eight years of peace and prosperity. An inspiration to many of us. What do these lunatics expect out of government? The righting of every wrong - real or perceived - from the last 400 years?
He bombed more countries than any US president since Roosevelt. He spied on journalists. He spied on you and me. He killed Americans in drone attacks who were never charged with a crime or indicted. He smuggled guns to Mexican cartels to create crime south of the border to force calls for gun bans here. He weaponized the IRS against political enemies. He left Americans to die in our embassy despite having the means to rescue them. He couldn’t grow an economy.
But he looked and sounded good reading from a promoter.
Nobody cares. The world was in a better place with Obama.
I think it’s funny that all of you white liberals are all about supporting Black Lives Matter until a white woman is running over protestors.
Huh? Who are "all you white liberals"?
The white people who like to keep their jobs or we let the world know you’re racist.

OMG! How do we get this to happen? I am actually finding the whole terrible choice that we have right now more distressing that the thought of four more years of Trump.
Yang V Romney
Three debates and then a general election. I'd support either winner and wow, what a change it would be. Make no mistake, Biden will be status quo.
Let's talk Joe Biden. The thread is about DC. Grandma and Grandpa x live in a nice house they've maintained well and bought it in 1975. Sadly both pass away due to a car accident. Paid 100k for it in 1975 - that's the basis when perhaps young family grandson [with spouse and a kid] can live in it. Guess what Biden proposes? Young family inheriting loses the base and will get cap gains based on FMV-fair market value as of DOD-date of death. Stepping up with Uncle Joe.
A really gross tax issue is accelerated depreciation- buy commercial/residential, wads of depreciation, when gone sell it. Businesses churn properties- do not hold them long term. Even Obama never fixed it- FYI some in that game got individual stimulous checks yet gross over 300k+.
They’re rich. They have a house. They can afford to pay their taxes. If they won’t, get them out of there and put someone in that house who WILL pay the fair taxes on it.
That’s how you grow a community. By people paying more in taxes, which lets the govt spread wealth around more equitably.

a siren/noise pollution protest where we blocked off streets in Georgetown. The police presence was heavy. As we blocked off streets we demanded that people turn around. This was a minor inconvenience for this affluent white neighborhood.
Excuse me? What the hell? This twit DEMANDED that people turn their cars around?
This was on Wisconsin Avenue near/at the TD Bank. I guess protestors are now allowed to close streets and highways as they see fit. A DC drivers license plate was posted as well as a picture of the driver and the name on a id tag of a policeman. How ironic this thread shows up with Goodbye DC on DCUM https://humanevents.com/2020/07/23/goodbye-washington-dc/
So anywhere in DC or anywhere else people expect to be able to drive down public streets, have a pharmacy, grocery store, etc. Fear of a driver surrounded by a mob? From the protestor "I am exhausted. My hands are shaking. I am angry. As the nation returns to complacency, we are still out here. We are still being killed. We are still being brutalized. For every second our nation forget about us we get angrier. WE DESERVE MORE. WE NEED MORE."
The group protesting https://twitter.com/concernedofdc
The driver? Could have been a nurse going to/from Georgetown Hospital on a shift.
Protests were well respected, broadly attended and for a good cause in end of May/ beginning of June
But now I wish all of these people would turn their efforts to voter registration drives and helping to vet out and identify vote suppression efforts the Republicans are going to try
The Secretary of State of GA and Gov of GA and their actions to suppress the vote are two examples of what kind of battle we have ahead of us in 3 months
Get off of the Streets, go home to your parents... settle down, bathe..... rest , then get to work getting out the vote
I would also say that it is obvious what high unemployment of youth ( idleness ) brings whether it be in the Middle East or the streets of Georgetown or Portland
The fact that they are all being paid $600/week , which is more than some teachers, who are about to put on PPE to go back to work, while these wanna bees just stand around being un-productive is a bit annoying

Unfortunately I think this is true. We nominated Biden after all.
As much as I almost smirk at Conservatives who are 'stuck' with Trump, I can't help but be dismayed at how hapless our candidate is. How could we have possibly nominated the only guy of the bunch that has already had eight years biting the apple?
"We" didn't nominate Biden. He was foisted on us as a hapless schmuck who can be portrayed as palatable to enough people to get him elected but is weak enough to be manipulated by the extreme left wing of the party.
So out of this entire great country, Biden is the BEST person available that can avoid being manipulated by the extremes.
I so wish I could go back in time and have gotten involved in Andrew Yang's campaign. Even the stuff I do not agree with from his platform seems like a breath of fresh air when compared to Joe.
Biden can "avoid being manipulated by the extremes?" Are you freaking kidding? Biden doesn't know what day it is and can't get dressed in the morning without help. He is a total puppet and will be "manipulated" by anyone and everyone.
