I live in MD. The number of cases is still on a steep upward path. I don't think anyone thinks that is time for phase 1.

From what I have read the antibody tests are not regulated by the FDA and may show antibodies from other Corona strains that are more like the common cold. How can we open when the numbers keep rising? If we do it wrong the last measures accomplished nothing.

That doesn’t say the tests show antibodies from other Coronaviruses.

This is from a medical office offering testing in DC http://www.farragutmedical.com/covid-19/:

ARE THERE LIMITATIONS TO THE ANTIBODY TEST?
This test is best performed when the patient is at least 10-14 days from the onset of symptoms. If it performed too early, the antibody level may not be high enough to register on the test. The test also cannot distinguish the COVID-19 antibodies from other coronavirus antibodies. So if somebody has recently had a common cold caused by another coronavirus, there could be a false positive. We also do not know how long the antibodies will persist or how long the immunity will last. These tests are qualitative (yes or no) and not quantitative (how much antibody is there).

Well we should definitely stay home and starve 90% of our population while we parse these details in 5 year long clinical trials. Please chicken little. There is growing consensus in the scientific community that it simply is not as lethal as originally thought. I feel like we aren’t wanting to hear these facts because of the orange morons original flu comments.

We should defintely reopen the country because the NIH started a study within the last week that has no results.

Which one of the 90 antibody tests is this particular lab using?

Is it that true for all 90 tests?

Which antibody test is the NIH using for its study?

Minimum of 2 weeks. We have to have a 14 day downward trajectory of new cases before entering a phase.

Right - How are non essential workers supposed to go back to work without child care?

Ohio already announced reopening starting on May 1st. Texas and Florida and most of the south and parts of the midwest will likely follow suit. They have low levels of cases. Michigan is the anomaly in the midwest.

If large parts of the country starts reopening it'll be hard for the mid Atlantic states to hold off reopening for another whole month past the 15th. The political and economic pressures will be too great. My money is still on the 15th as the beginning of the formal reopening. We can't let NYC dictate to Maryland or Virginia when to reopen.

I agree, VA’s stay at home order can be modified.

It won't be. Northam called that right from the beginning, interestingly.

It was pretty obvious then. It's just that no one else wanted to admit it.

The rest of the world: I’ll trade you for that $1200 check

Have you seen what other countries are giving out to their citizens? It makes that $1200 look like pennies.

From Newsweek:

UK: 80% of workers' salaries

Denmark: 75% of workers' salaries

S Korea: 70% of workers' salaries

Netherlands: 90% of workers' salaries

Canada: $2k per month

Australia: $1k per month

US: One time $1200 check that may take months to arrive

Well, do their checks come with Trump’s signature on them? Don’t think so!
