I'm sure POVs can change on a shadow day after the fact but I do wonder just how many times one can see a school. Not judging but we too talked about this (ad nauseam) prior to applying, then declaring a first choice and every other step of the way. I also didnt have DS apply to any school we wouldn't be happy about getting into. This year is a very, very heavy sibling year and from what I understand, all of our schools have even less spots when sibs are taken into consideration. This means that the likelihood of getting into multiple schools will be a rare exception vs. the rule this particular year.
Well, when my DC was accepted to several schools, I thought: “what a privilege! Let me tell now x, y and z that we are not taking those spots because DC had the decision ready in January. This way, we will help the school and waitlisted people.” On Monday, three days after we got the results, we received e-mails or calls from those schools. Cases closed.
But some people enjoy to hold the line. They probably feel good about themselves. If some of them call me to make questions about DC’s school, I will try to make them go away. I don’t want line holders there. Really.
