It's so boring and everyone got so ugly.

It’s so boring. It’s almost like they want us to hate it.

NP and book reader here. I’m not liking this particular change. Not one bit. If I remember correctly, she does test the ether on herself in the books, before using it on her patients. But she doesn’t use it as a coping mechanism. This just seems so out of character for her.
This.
She's supposed to be brave and perhaps even more courageous and resilient than Jamie. Knocking herself out with homemade ether because of bad dreams? This doesn't make sense for Claire. And it doesn't add to the story unless they are trying to give the couple a side plot on how her secret impacts their marriage? Maybe she will have a near death experience? It's dumb.
If the plot is moving towards the war, then perhaps stay focused on that? It would be interesting for Roger the history professor to perhaps provide useful intel that steers things in the right direction.
I don’t see how the ether could be much of a secret. Jamie would have noticed Claire isn’t in bed when he wakes up and he’s bound to notice that she keeps sleeping in the surgery area.

He works out twice a day (heavy workout). That’s not enough calories for a man who works out. That’s disordered eating. He’s obsessed with his body/weight, and it impacts what he eats.
How do you know this? I've clicked on a video of one of his appearances and he straight up said he now eats meat. He said he tried to keep his diet as clean as possible to fuel his muscle growth. I don't think any of us accurately know how many calories this man consumes in a day.
Google brought up a recent interview where he discussed his diet.
I’ve been following him for many years—long before his social media was curated. The guy has issues.
