I'm pretty sure that all the people saying that high rise jeans look good on them are mistaken about how a high rise jean fits. High rise jeans have a waistband that is about two inches ABOVE your belly button. Having denim fabric around your mid-section where you bend is kinda like wearing a girdle made of jeans. This is what they look like and how you style them: https://us.topshop.com/en/tsus/product/tall-mid-blue-joni-jeans-8089861?cmpid=ppc_pla_US_ip&istCompanyId=da794a11-99cb-4206-8e52-61037452aeeb&istFeedId=02701874-f9e8-446a-b209-91c0e33b94a6&istItemId=wrmqxriaq&istBid=tztx&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzsrmqp3j5QIVn4FaBR3P4gXtEAQYAiABEgLvPvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
And the first link to the Madewell jeans is an example of these: https://www.madewell.com/tapered-jeans-in-eastgate-wash-button-front-edition-L4151.html?dwvar_L4151_color=DM2835&cgid=apparel-jeans-perfectsummer#intcmp=denimfitguide_apparel-jeans-perfectsummer&start=25
Unless you're shopping in a store for teens you're probably not buying high rise. I can't imagine that many stores that cater to adult women would even be offering those. Mid-rise is what gives full coverage to your butt and I'd bet that's what the adults posting here are wearing.
There's a brand called Not Your Daughter's Jeans (NYDJ) that is obviously made for those of us who have given birth. They don't show butt crack and they have some stretch in them. https://www.nydj.com/sheri-slim-jeans/MAERSS2336.html?dwvar_MAERSS2336_color=858&dwvar_MAERSS2336_size=00&cgid=denim-style-sheri-slim#page=1&start=1 They are made for moms, but they have up-to-date cuts.
Thank you for posting this! The ridiculous pictures on Madewell give the perfect example of how silly these high rise jeans look. In the second picture that zooms in on the buttons the model looks like she's wearing Depends. If even the model doesn't look good in an item, it's not promising for everyone else.

And college I always felt fat and dumpy in jeans. Because back then they were all essentially “mom jeans” with a higher rise and tapered legs. I have a short torso and at the time was a little thick in the thighs. In the 90’s when they came out with lower rises especially with a slightly flared leg I suddenly started looking good in jeans. Oh what that style could’ve done for my self esteem in the 80’s. It is still a much better look on my figure. A lower rose with a slight flare. Makes my torso longer. I have larger breasts. Accentuates my waist and makes my legs look longer with just an average heel boot or shoe.
