I would be 100% fine with my parents texting photos of my child to people I don’t know. What do you honestly think is going to happen? There are so many REAL concerns. This is not one. You realize people everywhere have access to images of your child? I’m certain they are on security films at some grocery store. No one cares about stealing your child’s image as much as you think they do.

I regularly visit a 95 yr old great grandma in our neighborhood. She enjoys telling news about all the children (ages newborn to 75) and shows me new pics she has. What a shame if you’d deny your mother or grandmother that little joy. Maybe you need to be visiting her more often than I do.

I would honestly have no problem with it. And I also value my child.

People who are the grandparents' close friends and extended relatives, in a text, not posting on Facebook? No problem at all.

It just frustrates me that so many grandparents want a day in these decisions. I'm talking about the grandparents who live out of state, the ones that expect you travel to them with small kids for every holiday the ones you ask nothing of, because it's weird and you don't want anything. No childcare, no monetary help, no anything and yet they feel like they have a stake in how your kid is raised and that they can share your child with whoever they please.

I don't know they have extremely lax Facebook settings. ANYONE can see their photos. I'm not at all comfortable with this. For all the reasons ppl listed. I don't want my child having an online presence. We didn't, and I know several younger ppl that felt strange after finding out there was entire online albums of them and comments to go with it. Nope. I don't want that for my kid. If they choose to starting posting to social media I'm their mid teens so be it but that is their choice. Not one I get to make, or grandparents get to make.

And to the pp. No you don't get to post photos of whoever you damn please. That's rude.

To all the people worried about their child’s image being used in porn:

Sadly, there are so many abused children living in poverty around the world that there is plenty of actual opportunity for pedophiles to find what they are looking for. There is no point in spending the time and energy to manipulate some image of a random kid from Fairfax to look Sort of like something they want when they can just pay some traffickers to provide them with the exact images and videos they want.
