It's really not bad during the School year. They do start in mid-august, and get out end of april/early May so the first few weeks of school can be brutal, but then it's fine. It's not nearly as hot/humid there as you'd think. Often I compare the weather there to here (I have a child at Vandy) and it's very similar.

UVA, my DD is there now and striving there (her words).

Slippery Rock, Physical Therapy, great program and quite affordable even for out of state.

UVA DS has had a wonderful experience (still in school).

Are you actually saying if there are many people with whom you disagree that this implies it is not open-minded? That certainly says something about you and probably where society is heading. I'm very sorry to see this in a discussion about colleges.

BTW, I know nothing about WF and this is not a reflection on any specific school.

I am sorry but your "tour" doesn't compare to someone's real-life, 4 year experience.

We did a tour there and the conservatism is real. Over 80% in the last survey. Not saying they are not more tolerable conservatives, but it is not an open-minded school.

Wake Forest. Son loved everything about it. It is the perfect hybrid of an LAC and major research university. All around, a great experience.

And, he is very liberal, FYI. The conservative stereotype is outdated. There are all kinds of kids there.

Yep another vote for KZoo. Amazing study abroad emphasis.

What majors were your kids? We're looking at Kzoo for DD who is all over the map but currently interested in Bio (but also anthropology, literature, fine art etc...) and definitely is drawn to the study abroad/internships focus there.
