+1. Black persons here—as soon as I saw this thread I knew the kid had to be black. White kids don’t get treated this way. I’m parent to a black daughter just a couple of years older. Horrible to read, as I imagined how scared and confused my own kid would be.

The teacher and the police officer were also black...so there's that.
And I guess there’s a special kind of dumb ass who doesnt think people can be racist against their own race or hold racist bias and I guess people can’t feel so bad about themselves they commit suicide either
idiot

This is sickening and absolutely a racial thing. School to Prison Pipeline right here.
I live in Orlando and it's very much in the news in a WTAF sort of way, so it's not like everyone down here is "what, what's the problem." The officer was suspended and the prosecutor refused to do jack about it, so the "system" is at least working there. Despite the fact that the system never should have been invoked.
The officer that arrested the girl is black isn't he? Maybe he arrested her because she was out of control and had already hurt somebody?

Are the rest of us supposed to be fine with dropping our kid off in this kid’s classroom and just hope he doesn’t have a bad day? The other kids have rights too and they deserve a teacher who isn’t monopolized by the issues of one kid.
Ok, so what's your solution? My guess is your solution is "blame the parents for being bad parents." That will not get you very far. You can chose to open your ears and learn about how this situation unfolds, or you can advocate for arresting 6 year olds.
I am not now, nor have I ever, advocated for arresting 6 year olds. If a 6 year old is having violent outbursts in class, even just once every week or two, they can't just be left in there for weeks/months on end while the teacher/parents/administrators figure it out. Its not fair to the other kids in the class. Having to evacuate the class every time a certain kid loses it?
And no I doubt the girl is receiving "the treatment she needs" since her grandmother seems to think she just needs more sleep.![]()

It is a deep flaw in how US LEO are trained. "Always be escalating" like they are being trained to go to an overseas combat zone and not serve as peace officers on US soil.
When a cop feels like his authority is being challenged (by a 6yo, no less) he is a robot who cannot de-escalate and must ratchet up the severity of the situation.
