Anonymous wrote:Beto O’Rourke’s nickname is Spanish, but his last name is Irish. What gives? How did Beto O’Rourke get his nickname?
Some people have criticized O’Rourke for supposedly using the Spanish-sounding nickname to curry favor with Latino voters (no, he’s not Latino). However, Beto has used the nickname since childhood. His father gave it to him. There is a political dimension to the name, though, because his dad was a political figure in El Paso, Texas who thought the Spanish-sounding name would help his son in that community if he ever ran for office.

Lets keep the drama going Beto, it is the only way he thinks he can stay relevant. If anyone thinks he will have the authority to take guns away from legal gun owners, he is sadly mistaken. The Second Amendment was put in the Constitution by our forefathers for the simple reason - prevent Government tyranny.
The Second Amendment does not apply to semiautomatic rifles, nor does it apply to bolt-action rifles, pistols or revolvers. The Second Amendment restricts government. The technology of the firearm is irrelevant. The restrictions on government remain the same, regardless of the firearm.
The Second Amendment was not written to grant citizens permission to own and bear firearms. It forbids government interference with the right to keep and bear arms, period.
First, how much of an idiot do you have to be to think that reminding people that Beto was named after RFK is a solid dunk on him? You should ask Rafael Cruz his opinion about that.

Some on the right accuse Beto of presenting himself as Hispanic. It's much the same as Ted Cruz making himself less Hispanic through his choice of name.
Ted Cruz’s real name is Rafael Edward Cruz. His dad is named Rafael Bienvenido Cruz y Díaz. Ted is used as a nickname to avoid 2 Rafaels.
Beto is Robert Francis. His dad is Pat.
Does anyone know where the nickname Beto came from?

Second, if the technology of firearms is irrelevant, why aren't we able to purchase fully automatic rifles and bazookas? Rock Creek Park is full of deer and I really feel like I need my own bazooka to kill a few of them. Why can't I buy one? That pinko commie Antonin Scalia wrote that the 2nd Amendment is "not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose." I guess he should have checked with you first given your superior knowledge of the constitution.

Well, thanks for stating the obvious. There are plenty of countries out there that have laws prohibiting AR15s and other guns like it. It's certainly possible. We can also have those laws here in the US, we just have to amend the constitution to repeal protections put in place by the 2nd Amendment.
The second Amendment doesn't give you a right to SAMs. There are limits on your rights. Those limits are about to increase.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Ha! Haha! Ha! What a bunch of maroons.
Who exactly is the "maroon" here?![]()
The people who think this is a threatening crime. It’s based on a hypothetical and highly unlikely that Robert Francis will ever be president.
Unless the FBI has a time machine and goes forward in time to investigate.
No, that's how you're interpreting it. The actual deleted-by-Twitter tweet isn't based on the faint possibility that Beto would be president. It's just a plain-old threat. Or "statement".
Come in my house and try to perform an illegal act and I won’t let you? How threatening.
You are alerting the FBI about a hypothetical crime whilst crying like a baby. Robert Francis is a loser who will never win in TX again.
It would be illegal to not comply with the law. If anyone's the criminal here, it's you. "Maroon".
I haven't alerted anyone, SNOWFLAKE.![]()
I don't care what happens to Beto, but you will lose your guns. It's just a matter of time.
How do you plan to do that? We will be able to 3D print guns soon enough
Not in jail.
There's probably 10,000,000 gun owners (out of 90,000,000) that would flatly refuse to hand them over, under any circumstances, including threat of jail.
So what then? What are you going to do then?
There are only 2,000,000 people in prisons and jails right now, and the existing facilities are overcrowded as it is. How are you going to put 5 TIMES that many more people in jail or prison?
How? Seriously, how? Where are you going to put them?
And what are you going to do once a few million of them decide that they have nothing to lose and start waging war on people like you, all on their own, in every neighborhood in this country?
Will that be worth it to you?
that's not how it works. First of all, they are not stupid enough to come get you in your house. They will come get you at your place of work. (or let me guess... you are too mentally ill to hold a job). And then, if you are quiet enough, they don't do anything. But if you get arrested for another crime, and then they find the gun, they increase the sentence and take away the gun. Or if you start making death threats, and they know you have a gun, they use the gun and not the threats to arrest you. Its a bit like jay walking laws. They are enforced as a tool. But no, nobody is going to start searching homes for these guns.
Sure, that might work the first few thousand times it's tried, lolz!
But what then? What's going to happen when ten million armed people realize they're under attack and it's a matter of time before it's their turn? I'll tell you what happens. They start coming after you.
They might not be able to reach the political leaders who caused it all, but they can certainly reach the loudmouth neighbor down the block with the "mom's demand" sign in her yard or her husband with Brady campaign bumperstickers on the back of his SUV. The grassroots people that brought us this new civil war. There will be reprisals going on everywhere once you start rounding people up at work.
You're whistling past the graveyard of history. You really have NO idea how this is going to turn out.
You are nuts. The vast majority of the ten million armed people will be left alone. So, they will calm down. They will see that the law is only enforced against nuts who threaten others with violence.
That ten million is *already* a fraction of the 90,000,000 people who own a firearm.
Believe me, they will NOT calm down, and they know you folks won't just leave them alone, either. You will force the issue, and in so doing, you're going to start something that many from your side and theirs alike, won't be around to see the end of. You are playing with fire.
Please stop. Please.
We'll stop when mass murders of innocent civilians by military grade assault weapons stop.
