If you look at any USSF announcement, the first bullet point after announcing the roster is the number of players from DA programs, which is inevitably almost all call ups. The message is clear, if you want a call up, you have to switch to a DA program. Our soccer system is so messed up, compared to the rest of the world.

That is not a true call up. A true call up is that very selective roster that generally goes to California, trains together as a team does, and then a roster is formed for international competition.
