Well regardless of whether or not he had his own kids, I think we can all agree he was clueless. I think his wife/the mom is pushing this whole RC blaming thing. Throughout the interview on Today, her daughter kept saying "My mom says/my mom thinks..."

This. And he said as much to the first responders on the scene. He only changed his story to blame RC later. They keep showing the photo of her banging on the hockey glass like she couldn't do that if he left her on the ground. She could have. She also had a clear view from down there. He lifted her up for a reason, and its not the one he's now giving.

I can't blame them for not watching the video but, at the same time, they are not really informed as to what actually happened without watching the video.

Grandpa was in shock, appeared to have no idea that the window was open and probably even he is not sure exactly what happened or why he picked that window of all windows....

My guess is the baby noticed that the window was open and pointed at it "pick me up Gampa". Grandpa was paying attention to the baby, he lifted her up and, in his mind, he expected the window to be closed.

There may be some sort of attention/awareness issue with him. It could be that he overestimated the quickness of his own reflexes.

I do not think it was intentional on his part. The man seemed to have a genuine and affectionate relationship with his granddaughter. It was a horrible, tragic mistake.

When someone's answer to tragedy is a slanted PR campaign, something else is DEFINITELY wrong! Maybe they do feel guilt, after all. I am not judging what happened, it could presumably happen to anyone - BUT handling it this way is gross, all around. It says too much about the parents.

It's amazing how this thread and the other thread have gotten so long. Kids die every day under far less preventable circumstances. Lots of DCUM posters with schadenfreude patting themselves on the back for not dropping their kid out a window.


People would be a lot more sympathetic if they weren’t trying to profit from their own stupidity and gross negligence thereby jacking the prices up for us all.

Exactly. The parents have confirmed on TV that they 100% blame Royal and 0% blame the guy who leaned her on an open window and let go. It’s news.


He LIFTED HER UP to a window opening when there was no way she’d get up there by herself WHILE there was a sealed window all the way to the floor all along the deck where the child could look out of AND he leaned her out of it. AND then let go. Killing the child and ruining the vacation of thousands of people.

And somehow they don’t think it’s their own fault at all.

AND some idiots on this thread agree with them and think that RC owes them money.



Yep money grubbers showing their true nature. He knew it was open, lifted the kid up so she could look out. Then changed the story to benefit them legally and financially. Very obvious!

I'm not sure the family has really thought through the lawsuit strategy. Obviously they are hoping for a quick settlement but if RC pushes back at all, the family is going to have to relive this nightmare again and again and again during the litigation process.


The family is able to go on the Today show and talk about this. That demonstrates that they are, in fact, able to talk about it.

They are clearly grief stricken and devastated over their baby's death. But they are also in strong denial with regards to the negligence of the grandfather. What he did was not normal. Everyone knows not to do what that man did.

Yeah, he either propped her up inside the actual window frame or he stood her on the thick metal safety railing that tells people there's a big drop after it (like open windows perhaps).

And yes, it is very obvious. She could have both "banged on the glass" and also seen outside from the ground. He lifted her up because he wanted her near the open window specifically.
