Personally, we like the curriculum and are pretty flexible people who understand that opening a new school is messy.

What specific "unknowns" are you worried about?

The 19-20 calendar is posted online already. I was told at registration that the new building would not be available for tours until the summer. I don't really expect to hear much else until after May 1 when enrollment has been completed.

You seem to be forgetting that Scrilli shares a driveway with MV and there is another private school next door. It's going to be a mess for families dropping/picking up at scrilli if they have to get through the MV parents lined up for the drop off line. It's not just the side streets. This is going to have a direct impact on Scrilli and I doubt that MV has reached out to thesisters to discuss logistics.

Having an only child, we used to be those parents who park and walked our child into school in preK 3. Did same for first few months of prek4 currently. Now it’s pull right up to the school, staff in front to get child out, and pull away. It’s been great, DS is more independent, and much easier, smoother, and more time efficient. We haven’t looked back. We plan on doing the same for MV 8. If the school has a good system, it can be efficient and work well.


Providence is closing, there's a proposed and controversial redevelopment happening at the Josephites, and people can't imagine these streets. They aren't Edgewood streets, they are tiny one car at a time streets. I hope MV8 will look at "verde" options, or at least develop some kind of covenant agreement with the ANC. It's gonna be rough.


I drove by the school and around and did see the streets. Typical of most neighborhoods such as the school in my neighborhood which by the way goes from K-8 with way more students. Sure the neighbors living around there won’t be happy, and there’s going to be an adjustment to traffic flow. But other neighborhoods deal with it and it’s an hour in the am and pm the most.

ITS was there 9 years ago when they first opened and was only 100 students shared with Potomac lighthouse that used mostly buses.

Those sisters don't play. My guess is that they will be outside every morning making sure non-Scrilli parents don't park in their lot They may have to open up their playground area in the mornings like they do when it rains for the parents. So glad this is our last year at Scrilli.

Hopefully, MV will put a reasonable plan in place for managing this drop off, because I think a lot of the scrilli families aren't going to be able to access the school at all, especially if MV end up parking in the Scrilli lot, which I'm sure will happen no matter what.

Yeah we are at Scrilli and will also be there next year. I don’t even understand how we will access our parking lot! Also I live nearby and I’m truly scared what this will mean for 12th and also Taylor both of which are already awful. And all the tiny side streets. Ugggh.


I drove there on a Saturday morning just to check out the building and I found the small dead end side streets its located on to already be daunting, I'm interested to see whats going to happen traffic-wise to Varnum over the next few years when they add more and more grades. Does anyone know if P street has a well run carpool drop procedure that 8th street will implement? Where will parents park that want to walk in their 3 year olds?
