03 team got better under Scott and has Quan now. Time will tell. 04 good team needs better coaching and a want to win, 05 trash needs better coaching but has a lot of talent, 06 great team will need a great coach to continue, 07 good team has a good coach, 08 will be a great team will need a great coach.
The competition in their GDA division was much weaker than the teams they face in ECNL. Facing stronger opponents will lead to better development. It was the right move for the club.

The actual truth is that the VDA is a developing club and have only been around for two years. Older age groups struggle because pre-VDA, talent went to other teams that had either ECNL or DA already formed. On the girls side...05, 06, 07 teams are doing well in the ECNL and it sounds like the 08 talent pool will continue that trend.

The good teams are heavily recruited in both leagues. See the common denominator?
The battle is holding many clubs back.
I dont care about the clubs. I care about my kids team. My kid plays ECNL for recruiting.Good teams attract college recruiters. My kid was seen by over 30+college coaches this weekend.
A weak DA and/or ECNL team attracts less recruiters. End of story. Stop with the league vs league crap. Yes, there is talent dilution. Find a team that hasn't been severly effected by it. Stop worrying about the age groups above and below you. They dont effect your kids team.
Team specific. Say it 10xs over.
Ok, relax. VDA is a solid program. They would be a force if there was more clarity regarding the future of ECNL/DA.

Probably not. FCV leadership doesn't schedule many friendlies with local clubs. As a parent, I'd love to see the game as we have friends and know players parents on all the teams.

The last part. They are managed independently of GFR and are partners (needed for admin and fields). Players switch clubs all the time, they gained players from some of the same clubs you mention. It's a was, some might say better for MU as the talent level of some of the departures was not stellar, and not as you describe.

I have heard this very thing from some well placed folks.
MU was shedding the less talented players. Although I did see some quality players leave as well.
