You're not a true Dem. You're just selfish. No on the wall.

+1

If Dems give him any money now, he will continue to hold the budget hostage for any of his pet causes:

"I'm not signing the budget until you give me 2 more seats on the Supreme Court!"
"I'm not signing the budget until you approve Matt Whitaker as AG!"

The POTUS does not legislate. Anyone who remotely cares about the Constitution knows that separation of powers is more important than this stupid wall (which won't even work).

+1 It's a waste of money. He said Mexico would pay for the wall. $5 billion is a lot of money.

But it's not just 5 billion.

He's doing it to distract from his Mueller troubles. He doesn't care about the good of the country.

former D who agrees with you

I do wish Mexico COULD fund it (lol), but that's a dream.

Give him the damn money and let's move on. After this he's not a 2020 candidate!

If the GOP had some respect for their country, they'd invoke the 25th amendment on Trump. He's unfit for office.

Schumer: Trump said he would close government for a 'long time ... even years'

Returning to the Capitol, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters there is an agreement to hold staff level talks on ending the shutdown this weekend. Trump said he designated a group of aides to participate in the discussions, which he described as meant to "determine what we're going to do about the border."

It's that question which still divides the White House and congressional Democrats, who have vowed to block any attempts to secure new funding for a border wall.

"We cannot resolve this until we open up government, and we made that very clear to the President," Pelosi said after the White House meeting.

He's the biggest disgrace to the office of POTUS in history. No one with any brains and a desire to keep this country functional would threaten to shut down the Government for years.

Someone needs to explain to Trump that without Government, there's anarchy.

I think he may successfully bully the Ds into blessing the wall.

I think he will get the same deal about the dreamers he turned down last year.

Disagree. He'll get the Dreamers deal, but with maybe 20% of the money from last year. You wait, you lose. Suckers.

.

But this is what he both wants and needs to avoid punishment on a personal legal - criminal and civil - level. I called this immediately. I have no doubt he will faux negotiate but do his utmost to extend this to late winter unless and until proceedings start in the House.

Wow. So he's going to take the country down with him to try to avoid punishment for his misdeeds. Let's hope there are some GOP members out there who value country over party loyalty.

This is what I called out a few pages back.

The ONLY person who will get the government to re-open is Mueller. I'm dead serious. And it will happen when the FBI starts making arrests. Trump is holding out because he doesn't want DOJ, the law enforcement agencies, or the courts to operate normally. He and McConnell are throwing a Hail Mary pass right now.

This is literally what we have been reduced to.
