I didn’t follow this story closely when it occurred but just read a few pieces about him. He sounds like a great young man. He is apparently dyslexic and didn’t learn to read until age 9. I’m not sure if that’s widely known or not. He must be very intelligent to compensate for the LD.

These days, the problem is with trying to figure out whether trolls are just jealous or irreverent, or if they're trying to tear down our institutions to achieve creepy ends.

If they just hate Harvard, or the University of Chicago: OK.

If they see tearing down Harvard, or the liberal arts in general, as part of the process of weakening institutions that can stand up to the Republicans, the Democrats, Putin, etc.: That's a problem. That's not funny at all.

I know that, if the "you're delusional" person sees this post, that person will respond, "You're delusional." But, if there are actual systematic attacks on our institutions, then I think we have to start noticing them and addressing them now, when it's hard to tell whether they're part of an organized campaign. If we wait until the existence of attack campaigns are obvious to try to resist, effective resistance may no longer be possible.
