Why You can move the entire magnet program from one school building to another and it does not change several things -
1) these kids are highest achievers
2) the parents are committed to and prioritize their kids education
3) they have a decent SES
4) the parents are usually well educated.
5) they are used to travelling long distances for education
What do you think will happen to these families? Will their children automatically become low achieving? Or will the families suddenly start spending education money on online gambling and hair extensions?

The crime stats are no worse around Kennedy than they are around Eastern or Blair. Yes, there are more poor kids there. Yes, there has been white flight. Yes, the overall school scores are low. This is exactly why moving the Blair SMACs and CAP magnet up there is a good thing. Its the only option to keep Kennedy from being too poor and bring some balance to the school.
There are some very nice, affordable houses with nice lots in the Kennedy cluster. This area could really turn around with the magnet move.
You do realize that this is just a rumor. There is no actual magnet move planned currently. It is a bit early to announce real estate trends.
There's not even a hypothetical magnet move. Somebody is making stuff up on DCUM, and I don't know what for.

They'd discussed shuffling the magnets after reworking the school boundaries to enhance diversity, but with most of Langley Park bussed to Wooton and Churchill, there will be plenty of room at Blair to expand the magnet.

Speculation is fun.
The county's blue ribbon ESL magnets will be located at Churchill and Whitman.
Ha that would be funny but they would still all live in Silver Spring. Your part was a joke trying to be cutting, mine isn't and is true today.
