Not OP, but 4 inches is an obvious lie.
I like tall guys but wouldn't consider 5'6" a deal breaker by any stretch. But the lying is creepy.
+1 The lying is the issue, not the height.
yeh right. sort of like the crazy women talking about dating a guy 20 years older.
Why would a grown woman need ADHD drugs (a/k/a amphetamines or legal uppers) ?

They could just improve their eating habits and get more exercise. The weight would take care of itself. But, it's easier to blame the opposite sex for not finding them attractive.

Actual example (and I really struggle with online dating because I am an honest person and didn't know that people lie like rugs. But I'm learning). I was talking to this guy, cute, seemed nice enough. He was tall 6'4". I'm 5'4". I don't know what possessed me to mention that I'm not tall but I did in the course of making plans. (Admittedly, I have short friends and in my group photo I was wearing heels and appeared tall). He immediately unmatched with me and that was the end of that. None of my other dates ever ask me about my height or seem to have a problem with it.
Thanks for sharing. Perhaps he is a basketball enthusiast and wants tall children. The least he could have done is communicated and not just cut you off his list.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I am 6'4". Many times I have been stuck buying dinner for a woman who said she was 46 when she was actually 56, or had the dishonest profile photos which concealed that she had the body of a hippo (I finally got good at spotting those--no body shots, no contact, and bikini shots are preferred). In every single case I was a gentleman, did my best to show them a good time, paid for the date, and then never called them again.
The worst was the woman who said she was 50, but she was actually 69. She was old enough to be my mother.
You would've been well within your rights to cancel the date on the spot. I think these types of ridiculous lies by either gender should not be tolerated and they shouldn't be rewarded by getting what they want.

women will lie about age more often than men will lie about height. Good thing is, if you know her name, college and occupation a google search will give you at least a good estimate of her age. I've googled women in bars right after meeting them to find out their ages.

Those that were that tall gave their real height. Just shave at least 2" off everyone's profile. Apparently almost every woman over 40 lies about height/weight, judging by the comments I got from the men I did meet.
Them: You look EXACTLY like your profile picture!
Me: (thinking...because it's a photograph, not an artistic rendering?)
Add an inch to your height if you want to cut back on the men who are too short for you. The only time that ever backfired a bit was when I met a guy who was 6'8", and he told me I was the shortest woman he'd ever gone out with. I did apologize to him, even though I was wearing high heels--but that's still a LOT of difference. (His preference was 5'10" and up)
Back again to add:
Some people also don't really read your profile info fully. I went on multiple dates with a Jewish guy who seemed pretty nice. I'm not Jewish, which was stated in my profile. On one of the dates he started talking about how it would be a shock to his mother to bring home a nice German Jewish girl who looks so non-Jewish (whatever). I gave him a funny look and told him that I'm not, at which point he got upset. Uhm, it's ON MY PROFILE under religion--Catholic.
Another date. Partway through the date I mention my son. Who is not only listed on my profile but is in a pic. Date looks shocked and says he doesn't want to date anyone with kids. Fair enough but it's ON MY PROFILE.
I could go on and on.
I'm not sure its fair to expect people to infer that a child in a pic with you is yours. Lots of profiles out there where the kid is a niece or nephew. In order not to waste your time I would put it in the profile or mention it prior to meeting.

In he walks... at 5'6". His profile listed at 5'10" and we never talked about it but ... yeesh. I'm just not interested. Do I fade, call him out, or pity myself for being shallow?
