I think this word salad didn't translate well for you.

You know what's going to happen the next time a serviceman or police officer dies in the line of duty now. Someone's going to go on social media and say, "well, he knew what he signed up for". And the Trumpsters will bash this person; say liberals are cold hearted, etc...

coming late to this thread - how did you go from a discussion of expression of condolences in a time of grief to how this gooses Gillespie?

As a parent of a soldier, I would be furious if a Congress person made public the call made to me by the CIC if my son were KIA.

I find it impossible to believe that the Congresswoman didn't get the family's permission before discussing this publicly.

Next time Trump speaks to our military members he should say, "You knew what you signed up for, and if you get KIA, I will call your widows and tell them you knew that you might die, but I know it still hurts. Oh, and don't get caught. I don't like people who get caught."

Yep. Can you IMAGINE if Hillary Clinton or Obama had said "Well, they knew what they signed up for!" re: the guys who died in Benghazi? What if Trump had made these comments to Ryan's widow? Would people defending his statement still be okay with it?

+1. Obama and Hilary Clinton were there to receive the remains of the 4 men who died in Benghazi. Trump was golfing. That's the ultimate sign of disrespect to me.
