So weird. If anything republicans are more family friendly and help each other more.

That's a big fat lie. The party of family values has none.

You have a new child, don't you have more important things to fill your thoughts with?

ALso, in my experience, the meal bringing tends to occur in circles where men are generally thought to be helpless

Not in my circle. That has nothing to do with it. It's about being generous and helpful. Sadly that seems to be a foreign concept to many of you.

Sounds like your DH's family is very rude, selfish, and socially clueless. Barnyard animals

Did you consult your friends and family about having a baby and what you considered their responsibilities to you with respect to waiting on you and did they agree? If not, no one owes you anything.

I never even thought about someone bringing me food when we had a baby. We can easily order delivery. I did buy nice baby gifts for friends though.

I hate when people use this term. You don't have to have children but, face it your parents had you so they were "breeding" Do you feel the same towards siblings' children or close family members? If we didn't breed than we would go extinct. Why so condensending?

Btw, People brought us food, never expected it and were very grateful to those friends who did.

OP, most people don't take visitors with a newborn except immediate family. You should adjust your expectations because you sound unreasonable.

Funny you say that. Only one friend brought food for us (which is not a custom we were familiar with so it was extra awesome) and her husband is so useless that he is now her ex. Hmm.

How are you validating the post by taunting other posters?

OMG Eleanor Shellstrop is on this thread!

Since I'm the poster who brought up the Good Place earlier, I'd like to amend my post to add that my sister also brought me a lobster roll for lunch when she came to visit. And more cookies.

So you can't complain that "Nobody brought me food"! Waahhh!!!!!
