on others, they are hipster, or something else. they are so common now that i can't believe this is even a conversation. my upper middle class, 70-something parents have been talking about getting matching tattoos on their feet, for pete's sake.
also, they can look wonderful on people as they get older - no need to assume everyone wants to look like the queen at 90:

I couldn't have cared less; they both took excellent care of my child and were professional and courteous. Nothing remotely trashy about either person and I doubt anyone who rolled into the ER with a legit medical emergency would seriously say, "OH NO, I REFUSE TO LET THIS DOCTOR TREAT ME BECAUSE SHE HAS A TATTOO!"
Anonymous wrote:I don't have any but I don't think most tattoos are trashy. My dad had some (ex-Navy) and I guess that made me think they're normal. Most people I know have at least one, and I think they're not nearly as taboo as they used to be, especially for us millennials![]()
That being said, some are better than others.

That you would want to associate with the filth of society speaks to me what is inside your heart, that you are foolish and untrustworthy.
Unless you cover them up you will not get hired, will not work for me. If by some chance you are working for me, I will see to it you do not participate in any task that requires morality such as handling large sums of money, for I assume you to be a criminal.
Tramp Stamp is an appropriate term. Don't brand yourself as a piece of garbage.
Donald Rumsfeld was right about one thing. Some people need to be shot. He was speaking of you.

Also, I'm a respected professional in my field, and many fellow respected professionals in my field also have tattoos. I'm also probably not the 'type' one would expect to have a tattoo.
The times, they are a'changin', and it's not as taboo as you think.
Nobody thinks it's "taboo", just trashy.
Oh no, someone on the internet is judging me! I'll have to tell my mom she did a bad job raising me, because I turned out trashy...
I'm sure she wouldn't notice. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and it's really not the meanies on the internet that are judging you.
I mean heck, I do think prostitution should be legal, no no judgement from me. But if a chick with a tramp stamp looks like a tramp, I'm not going to bother going all politically correct on her. Yup, tats are a social marker. You marked yourself as trash? Own it and enjoy

I don't think it's a "fad." Haven't people been getting tattoos for hundreds of years?
I really want one, but will never get it because I can't deal with the idea of it being permanent and having people see it in a professional environment.

Anonymous wrote:None. I'm 46. I thought about it my twenties, but never did it. I'm glad now. Yuck.

I think preppy Tory Birch & Lily Pulitzer types are tacky, trashy, and ugly as hell - but if you like it, you like it - different strokes for different folks. It doesn't mean I make judgments about your character.
Not sure you get the difference between caring/bothered and noticing. Tattoos are definitely a social marker and a class distinction. See many on the Upper East Side? The beaches of MV? In Cap Ferrat?
Of course not.
I lived on the UES and have 3.
Housekeeper? Be sure to jump back in and tell us about your trust fund and expensive co-op though, just to prove your point. After all, nobody would ever lie on the internet.
