It is very frustrating to try to listen to Laura Trevelyan. I do not understand why someone, somewhere in the BBC, has not taken her aside and told her to go to vocal coaching. For that matter, I do not understand why she cannot hear how grating and shrill her voice is. Her problem - the piercing unsupported voice, combined with god-awful diphthongs - is not that hard to correct with coaching. The BBC is known, or notorious, for their plummy precise diction but nobody is born with that voice. She desperately needs to learn how to pronounce diphthongs without chewing them and she needs to pitch her voice about a fourth or fifth lower. It is not that hard to do.
