I'm Orthodox and nobody I've encountered in our (largely Republican--I'm one of the lone Dems) community will admit to being a Trump supporter. Most people express open derision for him. Comments about him becoming president are frequently appended with "G-d forbid" and our rabbi can't stand him because of his total lack of derech eretz.

I don't think Donald Trump is an anti-Semite. I don't think Donald Trump has any entrenched views of anything beyond his own delusions of grandeur, narcissism, and what will make the most people look at him. He couldn't give a flying fart about who supports him as long as there are lots of them. I really think the man has no overarching beliefs or morals beyond power and self-aggrandizement. He's driven by NPD and that's the end of it.

Really? Are you a Jew who thinks it's ok to say "I'm a negotiator like you people?" Or are you someone else throwing out the best excuse you can come up with?

But the statements he has made about other minority groups as a result of his opportunism have lowered the bar for everybody. If it is ok to slam Mexicans and Muslims, why wouldn't it be ok to be anti-Semitic? He has created an environment where fear and hate of other people is ok, where making hateful statements is ok. How do people not get this? He is a gross and toxic person.


While Trump, himself, may or may not be anti-Semitic, he insinuates and fuels any fears throughout the general ignorant population, whether it be against Jews, Latinos, Muslims or Asians. He threw a gas can on top of smoldering embers of existing racism. It doesn't matter what Trump really feels; at the end of the election, we may not be able to put the genie back in the bottle and American society may explode with race riots.

Bosnia comes to mind. Different ethnic groups lived side by side as neighbors for centuries in peace, until one rabid asshole came to power ...

This is actually an interesting question. I have seen a lot of theories. Obviously, I have my own biases on this topic and I think that any Trump supporter -- Jewish or otherwise -- is misguided (I wouldn't use the word "stupid"). So, Trump is not left with a lot of Jewish supporters. Of course, when one of those is Sheldon Adelson who plans to spend $100 million in support of Trump, a few is all you need. Adelson is a bit of a crackpot who probably assumes he can get Trump to do his bidding vis-a-vis Israel and also help in business and legal predicaments.


Third time posting here but feel obligated to reply to this one. I could very easily remove the name "Trump" from your first paragraph and insert "Obama" and the paragraph would still make sense. Except for the last line, of course. I don't believe Trump is anti-muslim and I like his tough stance on immigration.

Look- no one knows what language they use when they're chatting with their buddies. Maybe his is an anti-semite, maybe he isn't. FDR, Nixon, Truman, Carter, LBJ, Winston Churchill. Every single one has said hideous things about the Jewish people in the past. Outright antisemetic language. Would you call Jews who supported FDR "misguided"?

Jews have to vote their conscience this election and not at a D or an R. Trump isn't a Republican by any sense of the word. The Jewish Neo-Conservatives are starting to come around and they will fully come around.

Oh, and let's remove Adelson from above and plug in Soros. Jews and their money influencing elections, right? I find it offensive that you even brought it up in the context of the discussion.

So why did Jews help put Obama in office?

Because "Jews" are neither one monolithic group, nor single-issue voters. Many Jews are neoconservatives, but many (including me) are very liberal, and were raised with a mind for social justice. I don't vote for Israeli issues; I vote in large part for issues of social help, women's issues, and healthcare.
