I respected this at the time but now I realize he made himself inaccessible to younger generations. I would love to tell my high school students to go look up all his best songs and videos and... They can't.

My older sister was simply in love with the man and so she was always playing his records, doing cool dance moves. I remember we watched Purple Rain at my grandparents house and we even saw Under The Cherry Moon in the theater. Gosh, I just can't... I'm heartbroken. I'm just so glad that I was able to see him in concert once in the late 90s, he put on such an amazing show!

I had been following him on Twitter and saw that he had just made an appearance and told everyone to wait a few days before you waste any prayers. How prophetic!

"Sometimes it snows in April, sometimes you feel so bad. Sometimes I wish that life was never ending. And all good things they say, never last."

"May U Live 2 See The Dawn"

My older sister was also Prince's biggest fan. Even talked my parents into going to see Purple Rain in the movie theater when she was 18 since she claimed it was the best movie ever. A fact that still cracks my family up ...my dad was like wtf? And left Mid-way thru. She graduated Hs '84. Me '88.

Many memories of HS dances going crazy to Prince!! So sad.

Music sucks nowadays. Bowie and Prince were geniuses. So gifted and innovative.

Sad day. Very sad. So many good memories when I hear their music.

Well, he certainly never seemed straight.

Speak for yourself dear. Plenty of us ladies have swooned over him for years, and last time I checked, Kim Basinger, Carmen Electra and Mayte Garcia are all women.

How can this be? I'm an 80's girl and his songs were big when I was 12.

Prince was treated for a drug overdose 6 days before his death ... multiple sources tell TMZ.
We broke the story ... Prince's private jet made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois last Friday, hours after he performed in Atlanta. At the time his reps said he was battling the flu ... something we questioned because his plane was only 48 minutes from home before the unscheduled landing.
Multiple sources in Moline tell us, Prince was rushed to a hospital and doctors gave him a "save shot" ... typically administered to counteract the effects of an opiate.

I saw another blog that asked for recommendations for a tribute. I think that The Time, Mint Condition, The Deal, Jesse Johnson Revue, Andre Cymone, Maserati, Lisa and Wendy, The Family, Tevin Campbell, Jimmie Jam and Terry Lewis and Rosie Gains to sing, "Nothing Compares to U" may provide a substantive tribute. They may want to throw in Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Lenny Kravitz and a few others to include real artists/musicians.

I don't know any details but it is very difficult to find much of anything on youtube or spotify. They are really vigilant about
copyright infringement.

get it on iTunes!

Not on iTunes.

Where are you looking because I found tons of his music for purchase on iTunes. Are you just looking for free music?

I am not understanding why you think I am knocking them. They partied, it takes a toll on their body.

Absolutely. It's no secret they partied.

Liver cancer... Aka drinking too much

Perhaps. He was known to abuse substances in the 70's. But both Bowie and Prince are musical icons and great talents of our time, and ignorant statements will not diminish that.

Would love to hear what is so wonderful about people so eager to knock either of them, however.
