It was not based on merit. She is reaping the benefits of slavery and Jesse Jackson and her family never witnessed those two evils.

Ideas to the school. Don't forget parents can afford the tuition.
She can do what she wants. And I can think and say what I want. She and the others are purely doing this as a sport. The one kid applied to 18 schools. 18! That goes way beyond fine tuning. He's probably only visited a fraction of those.

What does your attending IVY league grad/undergrad (did you get that, wink, wink?) with all your high school friends who did the same thing...purely for "non trophy" reasons really mean? You seem to be throwing this Ivy league credential crap (undergrad + grad wink, wink) around as if you are proud of this trophy indeed...strutting around "Ivy" (low tier) credentials like some constipated bimbo peacock while somehow attempting to denigrate another who applied to these schools?
The girl in question doesn't give a damn what you think or where (and why) you went to undergrad and grad school. She really doesn't. You and your friends that attended both low tier Ivy undergrad and grad schools should get over yourselves.
WTF? Are you drunk?
I only included information about myself when the PP said something about community college. Sorry - I "just" went to lowly Columbia undergrad & grad. And I have friends from all 8 Ivy League schools. I am familiar with these schools - are you?
Given how widely different these schools are these students' motivations for applying to all are pretty clear. Saying that doesn't take away from their accomplishments at all. Certainly they are very talented and are likely to be very successful. Yay - kids who applied to all 8 Ivy League schools just to say that they could. That is why we are all talking about it now. That is what they wanted after all.

It is the second largest commercial town in Lagos State, located an hour from Lagos and half an hour from the Republic of Benin. The Town of Badagry is bordered on the south by the Gulf of Guinea and surrounded by creeks, islands and a lake. The ancient town served mainly the Oyo Empire, which was comprised of Yoruba and Ogu people. Today, the Aworis and Egun are mainly the people who live in the town of Badagry as well as in Ogun State in Nigeria and in the neighbouring Republic of Benin. In the early 1500's, slaves were transported from West Africa to America through Badagry. Also Africans were taken to Europe, South America and the Caribbean. The slaves came mainly from West Africa and the neighbouring countries of Benin and Togo as well as other parts of Nigeria. The slave trade became the major source of income for the Europeans in Badagry. Today, Badagry is an historic site because of the significant role it played as a major slave port in Nigeria.
Over the period of the whole trade, more than 3.5 million slaves were shipped from Nigeria to the Americas. Most of these slaves were Igbo and Yoruba, with significant concentrations of Hausa, Ibibio, and other ethnic groups.
West Africa...Gold coast...Kingdom of Benin known as slave coast...for the Americas

The "off-shore" slave traders had more success on the West African coast...the mosquitos amongst other surprises were increasing health threats with further interior penetration!

No, there are eight.
Standford is not an Ivy.
Stanford is not spelled Standford.
This thread is pathetic.
Look it up. Who is pathetic now?

Your worldview is miniscule. This successful applicant we are describing certainly doesn't give a hoot about what you or I think at this juncture. She did what she wanted, executed, and got her result. She can sit back and fine tune which institution is the ultimate best fit...for her...and not you and your friends.
