I roll my eyes whenever anyone mentions the research they did on schools and how it is such an arduous task. I always think they must have a really easy job where they're not used to doing any work. Same goes for the "nightmare" of the September Shuffle when every teacher I've ever talked to says it is no big deal.

But they likely accept more than 30. Last year there were a similar number of spots (27 pk3 and a handful for pk4). The pk3 list went into the mid-50s and the pk4 list went pretty high (high teens/twenties at least).

The 850 includes siblings. So say it's 800 for all pk3 and pk4 and they accept 30 total. It's just under 4% for nonsiblings. But really better for pk3 and worse for pk4.

Lamb only accepted 27/850 or so for pk3 and 3 or so for pk4. Just so everyone is on the same page, even though DD was accepted, it had nothing to do with my amazing parenting skills (don't tell my inlaws).

That still doesn't increase the number of spots.
No. But the odds of getting in are better when you consider how far down on their wait list they tend to go rather than if you just look at number of spots.

+1 also doesn't account for the fact that many families play just because it's free to enter. With Harvard (even if you have application fee waived) there is still a lengthy process to apply. With schools it's a 2 second free process online.

You have to separate the sibling preference cohort from the gen'l population as odds are not similar.
I did. This was not counting sibling preference. As has been previously pointed out, there are at least 60 slots for incoming pk3 at LAMB.
