What galls me and is mentioned in passing by a couple of commentators up thread is all of the littering smokers do.
It isn't just the cigarette butts (and hey smokers they don't biodegrade) but the cigarette boxes and plastic wrappers. Smokers who otherwise presumably aren't litter bugs just think it is perfectly ok to toss their cigarette trash wherever it suits them.
If you spend the time and look at the ground (and since having kids I seem to do that a lot) cigarette trash is absolutely everywhere and there is a lot of it. Streets, sidewalks, front yards, flower pots, crammed into every nook and cranny, at the beach, parks including National Parks and off the beaten path hiking trails etc.
But it is part of the cool of smoking - you can and should toss your waste because I guess you are marching to the beat of your own drummer and that justifies all of it.
The most absurd thing is how stupid smokers look with all the nervous hand tic BS stuff they do - the flicking and tapping and different ways to hold their cigarettes to try to look cool and different. But the stupidest and my favorite is the "packing" of cigarettes before smoking one - as if that somehow is going to improve the consumption of a highly manipulated manufactured product with over 7000 added chemicals.
So yeah I hate smokers because most of them are inconsiderate slobs but I also silently mock them and their idiotic attempts at looking cool and relevant - you look like idiots and if you had any self awareness would be hiding and smoking by the loading dock instead of parking yourselves by the entrances to restaurants and office buildings where the rest of us can disdain and mock you while we try to live our lives without having to even for a moment stink as much as you do.
I guess we know different smokers because the majority of the ones I know are nice people who happen to have a bad habit. Maybe you're just to busy silently mocking the ones you know to see past that one habit you judge or perhaps it's a case of like attracts like.

Smoking is not permitted in almost every public building in this city and many places even outdoors (like hospital grounds). I'm a smoker and I don't have a problem with this. I think the comments about smokers being "selfish" are because 1 lousy cigarette can have a big radius. 1 person smoking outside a restaurant means the entire outdoor seating area smells it. When someone smokes at the top of an escalator, the smell comes down. And hurrying up the escalator to get away doesn't help because you breath in more while exerting yourself. And what about my 2yo on the escalator with me? Or you walk out of your office building and you are greeted with clouds of smoke. Why can't I just leave in peace?
That's the real issue for me. I don't care if you smoke. I do care when it feels like I am smoking too. inconsiderate to say the least.
No, pp sounds reasonable. You sound like a dumb asshole.
Except smokers apparently. Someone's smoke affects people nearby. No way around that. My doing nothing affects no one.
You're who I was writing about earlier:
"... smokers just don't get it (or refuse to). They really don't understand how their stench follows them into buildings when they come inside after a smoke. They don't realize how bad their clothes smell, or that their hair radiates stale smoke stink. They truly do not understand that their habit follows them around and makes people near them feel ill even if they don't have a lit cigarette in their hand at the moment."
But hey, enjoy ruining the immediate vicinity everywhere you go because Freedom or whatever.
(You DISGUSTING PIG!)[/quot
You are a terrible person.
Signed,
a nonsmoker

That said, you're exposed to far more carcinogens from the cars on a busy street than you are by a smoker who passes you on the sidewalk.

Yes, they do. They sound like someone who's mere presence woulnt send me into an asthma attack. They sound like someone who doesn't toss flaming cigarette butts from thier car, as I'm driving behind them.
The PP sounds great to me!
Serious question - do you also hate backyard fire pits, wood fireplaces, camp fires, etc? Or is it just cigarette smoke?
