Thing is, at least in the ISL AA, most of the Varsity teams have just enough strong lacrosse players (and usually also true for field hockey, soccer and basketball) to have a decent starting line up too. So even at those schools there isn't much field time for those who start on the bench. If you want a lot of playing time, and you aren't starter material at one of these schools, you either play JV or pick a school in the "A" division or a school not in the ISL at all.

Or they might just choose not to play a sport at all. There’s no contract that says a high schooler needs to ride the bench for a sports team.

Sounds like a fun way to spend high school - sitting on a bench watching other girls playing a sport & watching a screaming coach & screaming happy parents . I can’t imagine a better use of a high school students time.

If you are one of those people who thinks everyone should get to play and its all about having fun, then you (or your kid) shouldn't be playing varsity high school sports. There is a time and a place for fun and participation but, a varsity high school sports team isn't it.

Some may love her, some can't stand her. Over the past few years, my DD has played with or met many girls who left Pride red teams because of her behavior.

Perhaps the practice of limiting subs is why we're seeing more parity across teams as strong players realize they have options.
