She has a breakdown and says she knows she's not welcome when they're having a good time. The acting was great in that scene.
I remember this as well and her saying something like, "Couldn't they invite me for a lousy cup of coffee?" Don't know why this has stuck with me.

Absolutely heartbreaking, I was haunted by that episode for a long time. The song wasn't nearly as over used then.
