20:26 again. I agree with you it's better just to sit quietly and refuse to respond to the slings and arrows. But it's still a no win situation for them. Everyone likes to push the princess off her pedestal, so I guess it's unavoidable. Hard to shed too many tears for the princess though.

This may be an exaggeration. However, GDS has a truly amazing senior class this year.

Don't fall for the silly GDS troll (who might not even be from GDS). This has been literally going on for months, and as long as people fall for it and react (either by attacking GDS or trying to defend their own school by discussion admissions results) the troll will keep on rollin' and trollin'.

I can see some validity to this argument, and I know that people sometimes suggest (falsely) that Sidwell does not have good college results because the school (laudably, in my view) does not post its yearly matriculation results.

However, this piecemeal announcing and fussing over admittedly incomplete college admission results does not put the Sidwell community in a good light; particularly when on other threads individuals who appear to be Sidwell parents (with anonymity, of course, who knows) seem to be critical of college counseling.

Much better just not to engage, rather than to fall into the trap of breathlessly announcing each day's results on DCUM.

Good for the kids, but . . . really? Think about why you, as an adult, are obsessing over Ivy league admittances, and, if you must, think about keeping it within your own community. As it is, this is the type of thing that feeds into the Ivy League hysteria and doesn't make kids who did NOT get in Early feel good. Lastly, do you think it is Quakerly to be bragging/proclaiming about college admissions like this? (Spoiler alert: It's not.)

Might be true. Or it might be as credible as the GDS poster. Let's hold back until somebody actually confirms....

I don't think people are bragging so much as they are correcting the impression that Sidwell kids don't get in anywhere.

"Simple Gifts"

'Tis a gift to be simple
'Tis a gift to be free
Even if we don't end
Up at an Ivy

And when we have found the school just right
We won't come on DCUM and brag all night

Oh, yes, simplicity we hail
Success isn't defined by just Harvard and Yale

To learn, learn will be our delight
Not to slam college counselors and start a fight.

Here's an excerpt from a blog on the Quaker value of simplicity:

Simplicity - Quakerism is a mystical belief system—one which seeks to experience union with God. As we encounter God—deep within—we become less and less attached to and enamored by the things of this world. George Fox wrote of "the one Spirit, which draws off and weans you from all things that are created and external, up to God, the fountain of life, and head of all things…" This is not a forced asceticism or a denial of the joys of life. Far from it. Rather, one becomes less attached and distracted; freed from the tyranny of worldly concerns.

OMG! That sounds awful! Where did you see something like that happening?

5 is the witching hour, I am told.

Only for Yale. Princeton came out at 3pm yesterday and Stanford last week.

So only 1 at Stanford and none at Princeton?

Looks like it. Though I think there were some deferrals. Hope other school parents are enjoying our SFS thread...? It would be nice to hear about NCS, since I have a sophomore there too, just to see what I am in for!
