How is the fact that you are a guy relevant?

It bugs me when people have potlucks. Unless it's a work event, suck it up and host the whole damn thing. You have no right to complain otherwise.

Oh now that is a whole new level of infuriating.

Hee hee.

But I thought it was spelled hotdish, all one word.

I hate potlucks. I usually end up eating the food I brought (store-bought), because I don't like anything else.

I recently got a bunch of carrots in my co op share and I googled carrot recipes to see what I could make. I saw carrot raisin salad recipes and it made me lose my appetite. The carrots sat in my fridge for a few days and then I decided to take them out and shred them for a garden salad. But sadly when I took them out, they were limp and lifeless. I think they sensed their fate when I was reading the carrot raisin salad recipes and decided to play dead. I ended up throwing them away.

Potlucks seem to lack class - except for the school ones which I understand. Why would you invite people over and ask them to bring food? Tacky. I dislike being invited to potlucks and do not ever host one myself.

I didn't know people actually ate carrot raisin salad. I always view it as one of the 'gotcha" fillers at a salad bar or buffet which is always a full bin that hasn't been touched.

You learn something new every day.

It's easier to bring a side or dessert than a main dish. If you're the host of a pot luck, you should provide the main course. Knowing that potlucks usually end up with too many pasta salads and cookies, I always bring a protein main dish, but most people don't think that way and as the host, you should work around your guests' inclinations, not the other way around.

This cat fight over carrot raisin salad is becoming really funny.

That said it's not that hard to put together a carrot raisin salad or something similar, and it's surprisingly popular. I've also been known to bring a good homemade pieor banana cake. Pies can be labor intensive but there are plenty of other things that aren't. I mean seriously, how hard is it to cook some pasta, add some sauce and cheese, throw it in the oven to let the flavors blend and call it a day. Dishes like that are easy and taste better the second day. No excuse not to put together something simple and homemade.

Carrot raisin salad is repulsive.
Then don't eat it dumb ass. The whole point of a potluck is that different people bring different things and there will be something for everyone. I have never once gone home w/ leftover carrot raisin salad and have had repeated requests for the recipe. You are clearly in the minority.

I think that stuff is disgusting too. I wouldn't eat it, but I'm sure some people would. I wouldn't even pretend to want any of it!

People are just being polite. I always tell people their gross salads are delicious because they seem to need the affirmation. Carrots and raisins salad sounds gross. And I live food.

You must hate Morocco

Are you really citing to Sandra Lee if Semi Homemade fame? Who never met a canned cream of mushroom soup recipe she didn't like???
