Before you got married didn't you talk about how you thought the marriage would work, and who would be responsible for which aspects of being a married couple? We did this over the course of many dates after we realized we were moving towards getting engaged. Then we refined as things came up that we hadn't thought of. It's verbal.

The number of people taking this thread seriously is making me question the intelligence of the general DCUM community.


NP, but I knew people like this when I dated a former homeschooler in college and got to know his family. His SIL was college educated and a teacher in the public schools but acted a lot like OP seems to. It was truly bizarre.

These people knew the Duggar family through various homeschool/religious organizations, if that makes it any more believable that some people do live this way.

The caveat here is that I think the people who live this way think it's normal and thus wouldn't understand why anyone would care to participate in an AMA about it.
