I'm Jewish ,and wouldn't be thrilled if I knew my kids watched VeggieTales at someone's house. I've seen some episodes and read about it, and I'm not crazy about the religious slant either. However I can't imagine ever saying anything to a parent about this -- I'd just keep it to myself and perhaps be a little less likely to want to send my kid over there, or, if I could work up the nerve, I'd tell the parent that I'm not entirely comfortable with the show and ask if they could show something else next time. The mom's reaction seems really extreme and perhaps it's best that it turned out this way, though sad for your son. I think it's fine to write her one more time and explain your position, but if she remains upset, I'd just let it go and not take it personally. SOme people find or create conflict wherever they go, and if it wasn't this with her, it was eventually going to be something else, based on how she reacted.

As a Wiccan, I'm completely offended by this slur. Whenever young Christian children come to my house for playdates, I like to read them all sorts of pagan and witchcraft stories. Fortunately, only a few weirdoes have objected.

Sadly, Wicca and Paganism are some very very misunderstood religions. I have family who is Wiccan, and it's one of the few religions I can tolerate.

I am not familiar w Veggie Tales but right in "About Us" on their web site they are very clear that it is faith-based, "...helping children to discover that God made them special..."

There is nothing wrong with that or that opinion but it is clearly a religiously oriented product and as a non-religious Judeo-Christian-Secular Humanist-Zen Buddhist-Agnostic (ie follow the Golden Rule), I would not be thrilled if it was shown to my kids either. But I wouldn't flip out on someone the way this awful rude nutjob did to the OP.
