You've clearly had bad experiences in youth sports. I am sorry that it's turned you away for good. Many coaches aren't like that at all. Vince Lombardi, the poster boy for the raging coach, succeeded because he understood that his players were individuals and that each player had to be motivated differently. Contrary to his image, he didn't scream all the time because he knew screaming didn't work for everyone. Also, many of us understand that referees really don't care which kids win, so we treat referees with respect and don't interfere with them when they're doing their jobs.

Sure, the parents in this case could and should have responded sooner to his emails instead of just leaving them dangle. But then again, it sounds like they had to do a lot behind the scene first to deal with the fallout of this nut.

He is a coach, which is *low priority* when it comes to email reply time in our house. My kids know sports is a hobby and that school comes first. I don't care if it lets the team down. Sports don't matter.

If sports don't matter, don't sign up for them. Most coaches are nothing like Maddux. They're volunteering hours of their time each week. To take the attitude that the coach's emails are low priority is inconsiderate. There are positive aspects of team sports: supporting teammates, responsibility, overcoming adversity. I've been a youth sports coach and remember having to forfeit because players didn't show up for a game (and never let anyone know). The other team was there. Referees were there. All I could do was apologize because I couldn't explain it.

Poster, I am going to have to ask you to cease and desist. The emails published on Deadspin have been discussed in depth. You opinion about Madlax is abundantly clear. Now you are doing nothing more than insulting other posters. It's time for you to move on. Thank you for your cooperation.

Go ahead and flame, facts be damned. I would point out (since you are accusing others of cowardice), that it is more than a bit cowardly to smear people as cowards when you hide behind "anonymous." Oh, and before you point out, which you surely will (you cannot stop yourself), I surely am responding anonymously as I can just imagine the nonsense and mischief that would otherwise invite from you.

Really, get a life. Families and parents will make their own decisions regardless of what you think and what you have decided for them is correct.

HA. Love this post!!!

Whatever makes you feel better about giving your money to a guy who threatens kids and families.

How do you feel about giving your money to Obama, a man who kills children with drones? That is a lot worse than chewing out a fifteen year old via the computer. Guess if you cared that much you would leave the country. Have you?

I'm praying this is a parody post. You thought this was a legitimate analogy, you have some serious issues.
