There’s a problem that needs fixing at Rock Spring Children’s Center. The president of the board of directors, a position that for 22 years was unpaid and volunteer, is also being paid to fill the role of CEO. So the person running the board is overseeing himself, for salary, raises, performance, what have you. Now he’s apparently fired an employee without so much as a warning or chance to remedy any problems. I would think at the least Betsy should have been given a performance plan before being terminated.
For any teachers reading this, please know that we parents appreciate everything you do for our children. When even the director can be fired with no notice, think about how vulnerable the teachers we love are. We’d be just as upset if this happened to you.
I hope the board of directors realizes what a conflict of interest this situation presents and how dangerous and undermining it is for the stability of the center that we all love.
This post hits the nail right in the head concerning the problem at hand. We can't just move on given that one individual is calling all the shots with no system of checks and balances. Something needs to be done, but what? My child adores the school and teachers, so I would really prefer not to change schools. But they're a douchebag running the school.
