So what's wrong with that? Both my parents were retired when I started college (they were not very old - 58 and 60 - but we lived in a country where people retired very early). I never thought there was something wrong with that and can't recall anyone else saying anything.

My DH's father had him @ 30 and retired when he was 12. He's been retired, 75% of salary for over 20 years now. YEA FOR UNIONS!

A friend of mine just had a baby at 43 - and they weren't doing any fertility treatments. It was actually not even planned. So yes, it can happen. But for many many people it doesn't happen.

Yes, I'd say that's normal. There might be a clinic or two that would work with you (New Hope in NY is one), but really, DE is the way to go at your age. (I say, as someone who is 47.)

When you are no longer able to get sleep bc you have a baby, that's when it really dawned on me that I was a mom.

PP what r u trying? I'm 41 and just starting with an RE, so far my tests look good.

It can definitely happen in your 40's, I had my first at 42, and I'm trying for dc#2 at 43.5.
