With Hilgy now at Prep and his club connections nationwide, and GP's desire to fill the dorms, I do believe GP will be able to sustain a very high level of nationwide success. Prep graduated a ton of seniors this spring, but they will bring in some players via the transfer portal and stash them in the dorms.
I suspect you will see Landon and SJC field some very competitive teams every three seasons and then enter a "two-year" rebuilding phase of taking their lumps.
If Nic Bell does come to Bullis, then I would certainly add the Bulldogs to this list as it will mean Bullis is not backing down. Nic Bell won't leave STAB if Bullis doesn't give him at least 1 -2 admissions slots a year.
The GZ program is beginning to fall off. If the Eagles have a subpar season in 2027, you will see a reboot of its existing coaching staff.
um...not too hard to get into Bullis.

Some of it could also be VA kids tired of doing that brutal commute to SJC or Gonzaga. PVI may be logistically easier coupled with the fact PVI lost almost whole starting lineup. Could be great path to get more time on field
It's not the commute. These are 28's, so they've been doing the commuting for a couple years already. If it was that big of an issue, they would have transferred before now. We all know kids who do/will commute hours for a great program. It's likely the coaching and/or culture (which are usually closely related). Look closely at the schools with a higher than average # of transfers and you'll find a common denominator...coaching and/or culture (or lack thereof).

The volume of high school transferring is really odd. Getting close to the college transfer portal.
Agree. College portal has destigmatized the process. Also, there seems to be a mismatch of understanding on potential playing time across some recent classes.
Overall, the phenomenon is remarkable when you think of school spirit and commitment, academics, high school social relationships, family connections, etc. One thing I have noticed with my kid, is that there is much more of a broader lacrosse community feel between schools than in decades past. Something about social media connections, playing on clubs together, and showcases, that seems to dull the rivalries, and make it feel like a big group of friends. Not a sociologist, but there is something going on there. When I tell my friends in their 40s and 50s about transfers to and from Gonzaga or Landon from rivals, they are in disbelief, and talk about people being ostracized permanently if they pulled that in the old days.

Anonymous wrote:A lot of transfer movement this summer, especially for the class of 2028. I don’t remember there ever being this many junior transfers. I think of 5-6 just from Gonzaga and SJC.

I don't think he ever went to Landon. The Landon transfer is at Episcopal.
