Has anyone been to BWI yesterday or currently at the airport today to give me an update on what is the wait status?
Has everything gone back to normalcy with the TSA fiasco?
I want to know how early I need to get to the airport. I was planning two hours. TIA!
It’s been fine. As far as I know, even back when the lines were long spirit / frontier were ok cause they use a separate security gate (D). Rather than A-C used by southwest and other airlines

This is obvious. The question is why?
I've read (probably on DCUM) that IAD and DCA TSA are privately contracted and funded so they're being paid - no idea if it's true.
I don’t think that’s true. Dulles and DCA aren’t listed as airports that use private contractors. I think it has more to do with BWI TSA staff pulling more from the Baltimore area, while staff for IAD/DCA pull more from the DC/NoVa region where they have a higher tolerance for federal government shenanigans.
That's my theory too, that the workers at DCA and IAD are just like "here we go again" and hope they'll get a bonus for not calling out. I fully support TSA workers for calling out, FWIW, it's completely ridiculous to expect employees to go without paychecks multiple times in less than a year (or ever). Maybe they need to go drive Uber or do some other gig work to earn money and I don't begrudge them that at all.
I do not begrudge anyone needing to earn money and calling out. But that still doesn’t explain why the BWI workers would call out at a significantly higher rate. It’s not even close. Is it that they are more financially strapped than the DC TSA? Or they are better at pre planned collective action? I hope NYT does an in depth post mortem. I love those.
