We have two teens who get cranky about sharing a bed so we usually get two hotel rooms these days, which means that do spring break we are paying about $1000 a night total this year at a beach resort in the Caribbean—but usually it is considerably less than that. In London I think we paid about $800 total for two rooms last summer and then in Paris much less—maybe $500 per night for two rooms total. Our oldest is starting college in the fall and our kids’ spring breaks won’t line up after that, which is sad in some ways but I am happy for financial reasons that if we travel with just the youngest for spring break next year we can share a room again!

Sharing room with kid/s turns a Vacation into a Trip.

$500 is my maximum but only if we’re staying a couple days and if it’s the only good option. If it’s a week I try to get something for $200 but it’s getting harder to find in popular places.

About $550k and it depends on where we are going. Same! Would NEVER pay more than $400/500

Do you not go to the beach in summer? Never visit any big cities? I am pretty frugal person but “never” is an extreme word.

NP-If it cannot be done for under $350/night then it doesn't happen. I would think most people draw the line at a certain price.

DP, but we’ve never spent $400-$500 on a hotel night either. If we can’t stay for a reasonable price, we go somewhere else. We also camp a lot. As a kid, we almost always traveled to places where family lived and stayed with them. Most people cannot afford $500 hotel nights.

Am in London ATM, paying far less than $400 for a perfectly fine if small room in a pleasant hotel in a pleasant area right off the District Line in zone 1. Have paid 500 night for a house at a beach. But that's a house with several bedrooms.

Does your hotel room sleep 4? Because if not many families would need two rooms, or they need to pay for a brand that offers 4ppl rooms.
