Today's south is fine. It's growing. Most people have standard suburban lifestyles. More affordable than the coastal cities though that's changing in key southern markets. Schools are increasingly more reliable than places like CA. Rural areas have more in common with rural areas elsewhere in the north and Midwest than the big cities. Plenty of Hispanics across the South now. Florida is different, always has been.

Maybe it’s the bombing of all successful black neighborhoods, or turning them into lakes or using eminent domain to run the roads right through their communities.
I don't get the people saying the south is racist. Most African Americans in the us, well the majority of them live in the south. They would not continue to live somewhere they felt treated badly. It just doesn't make sense. How is the south racist?
Completely false. Many can't afford to leave. Also, if you never understand what real agency is, you become accustomed to the way you are treated. It's not until you leave that you realize that you were not empowered. I'm black. I've lived in the South 2x - Atlanta and Charlotte. I have NO desire to live in the South again ever. I find that black people in the South are not empowered like they are in the DMV. They don't have power or agency. They may have a great job but they are grateful instead of understanding that they are in the job because they are good at what they do. There's also a lot more opportunity here.

If your state votes for idiots, then don’t be surprised if people assume the people who live there are racist, ignorant, etc…..
You are disgusting. Assuming derogatory characteristics based on group membership is the essence of racism.
Voting for MAGA is a choice.
Living with MAGA is a choice.
Are you not, yourself, "living with MAGA"? Why not move out of the US if that's your standard?

What a remarkable combination of privilege, obliviousness and foolishness.
Most people don’t have the means to move for any reason, much less bc they disagree with their state’s politics.
And the very best way to effect political change is for more Dem voters to move to MAGA areas. You’re not doing a lick of good in your MD/DC/NOVA echo chamber, and your vote is being wasted.
Want to make a difference? Move your sorry carcass to a purple state or a swing district in a red state. Engage with your community and make your vote count.

Have you ever been to Boston?
What's wrong with Boston? Are you saying it's racist?

We're not.
Then stop electing racist MAGA cult members into office. It's really simple.
I didn't vote for them or Trump, just like you didn't and yet.
But I choose to live in an area where the majority of people don't vote for MAGA values. For a reason. You are willing to overlook it, which is fine, but don't be surprised if people judge you for it.
+1. This. Friend from Kentucky and she would never move back because her values don’t align.
It wasn’t like this before rise of Trump but Republicans continue to set a new low in ethics, morals, governing, etc….. The lies, the complicity, etc…

I fully blame the rise of Trump and where the republican party is today, who stands for nothing and can’t do anything, on people that voted for them.
Does the bolded mean that I have to hate CA? (Gavin, Arnold and Ronald)?
And NY? (Rudy, Adam’s, etc.)
And IL? (Is Rod B still in jail?)
And MN? (Jesse the Body)
Where the heck am I supposed to live?

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I don't think bad things about the south. Southern hospitality and all that. They will help strangers out thats been my experience. Never seen any racism either. Just honest nice people.
are you white?
Also, most of the south is too Evangelical for me, and I say that as a Christian.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If the south is racist like you all scream that is it over and over again, why would the majority of African Americans live in the south? It doesn't make logical sense.
Because that’s where the majority of African slaves were used on plantations.
There was the great migration of black Americans to the north (they were fleeing Jim Crow laws) but not everyone could make the journey north and west. Educate yourself.
Exactly where north did they flee? I'll wait...
Pick up a history book or just google The Great Migration. There’s tons of literature and documentaries about the exodus of Black Americans to northern cities after slavery ended. It got to the point where the Southern states would block people from heading North by removing them from trims and boats heading north.
+1
How does the PP not know this?
MAGA wants to white wash our history by removing topics like the Great Migration from schools.
