And I don't think BYU had anything to do with their decision. I'd encourage BYU to do them same since they also got royally screwed by the fact that some rules don't seem to apply to Bama but do to them.

Then why did my kid have to pay tuition to them ???

The system is broken. Everything is biased toward the SEC and their broadcast partner, ESPN, is leading the charge.
Maybe to benefit their fans and the players ?
According to reports, the players voted against the bowl. And the seniors and Love were never going to play in a meaningless game with the NFL on the line. It was the right move. Call out the hypocrisy. Now break with the ACC.
A more mature response would have been to wait a day or two for emotions to settle before casting emotional, reactive votes in line with the childish response from the ND AD that brings shame to the ND football program and to the university.
As an independent, Notre Dame football should be relegated to playing only other independents.
Review ND's football teams schedule this year. Joining either the SEC or the Big Ten Conference would destroy Notre Dame football as ND football could not withstand the weekly punishment of an SEC or Big Ten schedule.
I would personally love to see ND play Alabama's schedule from this year. If they managed to do as well as Alabama, I'd shut up. But they'll never, ever do it, which tells you everything you need to know about that program.

Correct.
Notre Dame, like Lehman Brothers, thought that they were too big to fail. Well ND had a bailout option--to play a solid BYU team for a significant payout. Would garner lots of attention as many want to scout ND players & many love ND football (including me).
However, ND AD had a realistic fear that a demoralized ND football team might get their butts whipped by an angry BYU team. When the going gets tough, the Irish cry & run.
