Do you have any recurrent sinus or congestion issues?
Is there any chance you have adult onset cystic fibrosis?
Is that even a thing? CF is a genetic thing. In rare cases you wont have noticeable symptoms until the teen years and get a late diagnosis but I don’t think you can have an “adult onset” of a genetic mutation.
Yes it is a thing. A close friend of DH had mysterious symptoms for years and was finally diagnosed in his 40s.
It's DIAGNOSED in adulthood because person had mild symptoms. It's called afult onset but it is indeed genetic.

Anonymous wrote:OP- I lost 35-40 pounds shortly. I maybe needed to lose TEN. I got down to 105. I wasn’t adsorbing ANY vitamins or nutrients.
I’m on monthly vitamin infusions, at the hematology department in our local, massive hospital system. I do not have cancer. I have an absorption problem. I’m eating like my teen boys, they have well rounded diets. I’m back to 120 which is a good weight for my height (5’5”) and build (small bones). But if I don’t keep up I drop weight quickly.

That's the striking thing and no doctor seems to address that?
Giardia?
How did they not address it? They did a colonoscopy and it sounds like a lot of bloodwork and scans. If they did any kind of stool sample I’m assuming they’d have checked for that but good point, if no one did a stool sample that’s so easy and cheap to get done and WAY overdue!
But I also don’t think guard is would
Go on for 3 years?

Radiology locations will not do 3 tests at a time. You can’t have MRI abdomen and pelvis and MRCP. You can have MRI abdomen and MRCP.
You mentioned MRE. That is looking for inflammation in your small intestine.
Great news that everything is normal so far!
Just gave my TSH and cancer marker bloodwork today. Crossing my fingers.
What? I thought you said they took them all the same day and was waiting on those to come back?!
I’m wondering if her doctors are all correct and Op actually just has health anxiety and is losing weight from severe anxiety. Because why would you go get all these bloodwork orders and then wait a full week to even go get them drawn, if you’re convinced you have cancer?
Also, the multiple scans within the past year all being clear is an excellent sign.
OP I’m kind of confused by what you’re up to but as someone who has known people to have lots of weight loss and it end up being cancer, I do hope you are ok. Please post an update when you can!
Op here. Before jumping to conclusions it would have been nice if you and the PP had read my updates.
Why would I wait to give my tests?
I have no idea but you posted saying the doctor ordered bloodwork like a week ago. Maybe they took a long time to send over the order? Which sucks.
I don’t know what was wrong with the next comment- going to the ER for abdominal pain and rapid weight loss will absolutely rule out most cancers within the 6-8 hours that you’re there. I personally would not hesitate to do this
Since it sounds like you’ve gotten worse quickly within the last couple of weeks. And if everything looks clear that’s great- waiting until January to get the other more detailed stuff done is probably safe. My fingers are crossed for you

Will they do scans in ER just for weight loss and abdominal pain?
RN here. Yes BUT if everything comes back normal, they are very likely to just discharge you and to tell you to follow up with a specialist. They likely aren't going to take the time to try to diagnose anything unless your labs are out of whack or you're unable to keep anything down (I say unlikely but I've also seen people admitted for less). They will likely just rule out anything emergent and/or critical and then have you follow up. Which isn't necessarily a bad way to get a CT scan, I just don't want you to get your hopes up too much that you'll walk out with any answers.
