I was just talking to someone whose kid got into BC ED with lower than expected FA (none basically). Kid also has St Andrews in hand. The entire table of people - including a college professor in the field she'd be studying - urged her to consider St Andrews.

It takes a special kind of loserness to come onto accepted student threads and bash the school. Such posters really need to take a step back and question how they are living their life. The rest of us think you are pathetic and discount your posts.

there's BC and there's BC at 95k. Not bashing the school, bashing the price. BC is one of the few schools that is both "need blind" and "takes home equity into consideration". there are plenty of people who get into BC and don't feel good about the package and this lands toughest on the kids. IYKYK.

So parents who make responsible decisions like paying a reasonable mortgage and saving get screwed while Catholic renters with ten kids and credit card debt that makes 1990s Donald Trump look frugal get free rides. Count me out.

We toured this summer and heard the same thing. They were actively saying not to submit test scores unless they were at least 1450. Below that, they said to please apply test optional. Seemed like they were trying to maintain a certain average SAT score IMO.

I went this fall and the AO didn’t say that at all. She stressed the importance of submitting scores and how they were strongly encouraged.

56% of enrolled students were TO in last year’s
CDS. How did she explain that part?

56% TO is embarrassing for any top school.

BC isn’t a top school

Because their alumni don’t have the money to donate.

Correct. Differences are marginal

If BC had any value as an institution the RC Church would’ve sold it to pay its debt for child abuse already. That it hasn’t sold it tells you everything you need to know.

It is a private school with a beautiful location and campus - and ranked 36 in the US.

agree, I just dont think ranked 36 in the country is worth 95k. But I get we all draw that line in different spots.

Santa Clara has better outcomes, similar vibe, prettier campus and gives merit.
