Then why on earth they need to expand Damascus? Nobody question them?
Damascus was being expanded to handle Clarksburg's overcrowding.

Now if they could add in also not rebuilding an aging high school and using Crown instead once it has been used as a holding school to rebuild one less than originally planned aging high schools. We do not need another high school to pay to operate during declining enrollment and it makes sense to not renovate a decrepit current high school when there is an available new school. MCPS needs to be consolidating schools and closing the most underutilized/in disrepair not expanding. The more old schools in need of massive repair that can be closed with students attending underutilized in better repair nearby schools, the better for the fiscal future of MCPS.
Well just move Wootton there, no need to renovate Wootton then
I am a Wootton parent and I have been shouting this but I don't think it will happen. Just close the school. It needs a full demolish and rebuild and I don't think we need both.

The data is inaccurate as usual per mcps. They are liars and manipulators . If you listened to the board meeting, Montoya called them out for having incorrect data about the projected population of Gaithersburg and told them she did her own research. She called for a delay until proper time to gather data from the City of Gaithersburg could be obtained

Seems like they feel it is important to have a permanent, brand new holding school. Doesn't sound like the most fiscally responsible option frankly. But MCPS thinks the county can just raise taxes for everything.

Do you really live in a bubble? Seneca valley, Gaithersburg and Richard Montgomery were ALL done with kids on site. God forbid your precious snowflakes have to hear a bulldozer or miss a football game
Yes, I do as we’ve never been through a remodel and in falling apart schools. It makes no sense. Use a holding school.
MCPS cannot break its agreement with Gaithersburg. It would have to find a holding school elsewhere. Crown is not an option.
Almost every school that’s been renovated had students on site.
The agreement with Gaithersburg just says the land is for a public high school. Seems like a holding school for high schools would meet that definition, especially if the intent is for Crown to eventually open as a school of its own.
I thought the crown HS has to serve gaithersburg residents. Being a holding school won't do. That is a decade after being returned to the hands of residents living in gaithersburg.
Just serve Gaithersburg then, and don’t drag other students who don’t live in Gaithersburg in. But guess what, there aren’t enough students to fill crown. All updated data show less than 80% no matter what options
