You can't be serious. Why would a teacher risk their safety for some nonsense. And what did you expect the studrnt body to do? You want more kids stabbed. I tell my kids anytime there is an altercation, be it verbal or physical there is a high likelihood someone has a weapon. Do NOT get involved. I also live by this. I think the teacher did the right thing.
At the time the teacher walked by there was no stabbing going on. Have you even watched the video? I expect a teacher to say "hey, knock it off" and to tell the other students to stop congregating and disperse or at minimum immediately contact an SRO. There is no time of the essence in anyone. So is it Fairfax policy to just snap a photo and casually keep walking?
When your child is in FCPS building the school system is responsible for them. A teacher or administrator is a part of that. I don't expect anyone to jump into a knife fight so GTFOH with that angle. I do expect the adults to be adults. This lord of the flies attitude is insane.
You all should watch Adolescence on Netflix and check out the portrayal of a small town UK school.

Teachers may not be allowed to intervene. The safety protocol is to notify an SRO
Sure, I understand that but to nonchalantly walk past, literally throw up your arm to take a pic and keep walking is awful. He doesn’t stop, say anything, do anything. No instructions whatsoever. No “stop”, no calls out for the SRO or anyone else. It’s a male teacher, with a mustache and large belly, it’s definitely a teacher.
Then when the video shows the student who is stabbed there is one, ONLY one adult standing there and he’s just yelling “ambulance”. He’s not kneeling down to see if kid is alive, or ok, or applying pressure to stop the bleeding. It’s not even clear who he’s talking to, all the kids walking past? No one is in control and several kids are laughing.
I thought cell phones in Virginia public schools were banned during the school day.
Anonymous wrote:Superintendent Reid’s implication that the reason high school students couldn’t get released for the day was because the only opportunity teens in her district have to eat is through a free meal at school is preposterous. By doing so she is admitting that her leadership has failed at the entire purpose of education.

Not a good *look* for the individual who snaps a photo and then strolls on- even slows his pace down. You don’t see him quicken his pace. You don’t see him yell out. You don’t see him get on his phone. It plays out as if he sees a fight every day and every hour all school year so it’s not interesting.

Cell phones and social media has broken our kids.
I was born in 1973. No cell phones or social media. Fights happened in school. I never saw a stabbing in mine but there where some in others. We didn't have a gun problem then, in schools. It wasnt FCPS. It was indiana. But your comment makes no sense. What are you blabbing about?

I’m a teacher and I’m not about to get involved when a student has a knife.
Do you want violent kids to remain in school? Or be expelled?
Crickets from the teacher. Why?
I am a teacher. Violent students deserve an education but it doesn’t have to be in person. They can do online schooling IMO.
Not a bad idea. Also, FCPS offers several programs for students who have experienced difficulties with the law or need alternative educational settings. These include Alternative High Schools like Bryant High School and Mountain View High School. Additionally, Alternative Learning Centers (ALCs) such as Bryant, Burke, Montrose, and Mountain View provide specialized support for students needing more individualized instruction.
Students who stab other students are not going to Bryant, Mountain View, etc. They are heading to juvie (where, yes, they will have access to classes).
Wrong, as a parent whose child suffered a brutal attack both in middle and high school, pressed charges, etc, the officers both times said no such thing as juvie in FCPS anymore.
Also, Fairfax Juvie is not a jail it basically looks like any other fcps school so its not really a punishment
