They market themselves as a soccer club: that is rec and travel.

They probably have more rec players than travel players. Rec players are very profitable around here by the way.

What do you mean by profitable?

Similar situation. My daughter left after many years in the travel program to play GA but all of this chaos the last few years definitely has had a negative impact. Players who had NM as a coach are very unhappy right now to have him removed middle of the year especially. He had turned a few teams that needed good coaching completely around. Sad for those who lost him

Let’s face it. A lot of the “travel coaches” don’t have licenses anyways. And they have no interest in Coach education to get better. The travel system is broken. There’s a huge need for better coaches who are invested in their trade. But what you are paying for are uneducated coaches, who scream and yell and chase the W - think about long term development and fun… Oh wait that doesn’t exist in most travel clubs… keep chasing those bumper stickers tho

Absolutely not. The guys who are running the club are rec soccer guys, they probably don't even know what MLS next is lol

You label them “rec soccer guys” as if it’s an insult. The rec soccer model is how youth sports is intended to be and what provides the best outcomes. There are many studies that support this.

The travel model is nothing but a scheme designed to generate money for soccer directors by selling parents on a false hope of scholarships by following a mythical pathway. A pathway that changes every 12-24 months, by the way.

RS, NM and ML were directors and coaches. So they basically fired the people who would usually hire the new coaches. Board members with little to no soccer experience will be doing that now? These guys had decades of experience coaching in this area.

NM coached 12 teams? Wow, why’d they fires the hardest working man in ECNL? I heard he also held down a full time job as a brain surgeon.
