The 75,000 number is after Bezos commanded the editorial page to only publish opinions in favor of free markets and personal liberties. Another 250,000 left a few months before when the editorial page prepared an endorsement for Harris and he didn’t allow them to publish it.

Are the estimates now 100,000 loss since summer 2025?

I heard the number is estimated to be 250,000 subscribers left since last 12-15 months.

Ended my WaPO subscription as well as all amazon accounts. I will not support fascism or those who support it.

Yes, discontinuing patronage of a business employing hundreds of people is making a real difference in government policy. I'm sure the White House has taken notice and is changing course accordingly. Try voting, which actually is effective if enough people agree with your political inclinations.

There's nothing like an inflated sense of one's individual self-importance.

Do you really think that poster doesn’t vote?

People don’t necessarily take such steps because they believe the WH or a corporation is going to immediately change course, but to keep true to themselves that they have agency and do not need to acquiesce to authoritarians.

how noble. And how futile. And how harmful to 3rd parties, like employees, suppliers, and to the tax revenue such businesses generate.

People voted for Trump because they wanted to burn it all down. So here we are.

Since the Post is going down in flames, it hardly seems futile. Seems like the loss of subscribers is a proximate cause.

I was here for the summer of 2020 snd all of the rioting. Let's not forget there are a lot of "they".

I want to do the same but I’m addicted to Amazon. What can I use instead?

What did you do before Amazon? Go to a physical store and buy only what you need even if it costs more.

Stop buying Chinese sweatshop made bunny slippers at 2am after a bottle of wine!

(I admit I’m guilty too though)

You mean the physical stores Amazon put out of business?

Costco, Bookshop.org, Ace Hardware all consistently come up on lists as alternatives to Amazon and Target. Thrive Market too but I have no experience with them.

DCUM elites don't care

look at how they mandate cheap illegal aliens to take care of their houses

Look at how Admin deletes postings that details the negatives of immigration.

I own nothing to 3d party businesses and their employees in the way you think I do. Same way all the RTO people were saying we should do so to "save Potbelly". Yeah, no.

I vote in ways to benefit employees all the time. I'm not required to conduct business with orgs that i disagree with fundamentally (or their ownership) on the basis that it will hurt the employees. BEZOS is the one doing that.

Can you say "short-sighted"? Sure you can.

Is that an argument? It wasn't worth the time you took to type it.

Guess I found the sheep farm.

No one prevented 3rd parties from speaking out about what was happening at WaPo.

NP. Yes it’s noble - which is a characteristic that we seem to have forgotten in Trump’s America. And it’s probably futile. But the rest of your post is just nonsense - should you buy stuff at the company I work for since it’s good for the employees, suppliers etc? No you buy stuff from our company because you want to - and you can choose you don’t want to for whatever reason you want.
